Panasonic SCHT330 Review
In terms of picture quality the Panasonic SCHT330M performs well. It has progressive scan technology to make the picture sharper, smarter and clearer, and it comes with RGB Scart and S-Video out to make the most of your high-end TV system. As with all units in this price range the MPEG compression artefacts are a little more obvious than with the more expensive counterparts. Audio quality is equally impressive for the small dent in your wallet - coming with a 400 watt RMS amp is impressive, and the sound is crisp and clear, if a little too bassy. Setup is made easier too on the Panasonic SCHT330M by the building in self test feature, guiding you through the speaker positioning. For those that like to fiddle there are independent controls for bass and trebble, but for those who like their life more simple, Panasonic have included the 4 standard presets of Rock, Jazz, Pop and Live. The design of the SCHT330 is fairly easy on the eye. It looks a little plasticy, but at least the units are fairly sleek, smooth and rounded. From a usage point of view its pretty well presented, although we found the menu interface to be a little awkward to get around and not very intuitively laid out. But with practice its fine. Pros
Cons
Conclusion The Panasonic SCHT330 makes for a good all-round low price home cinema system. Its support for almost every media format under the sun is impressive, and it doesn't lack on audio decoders either. The S-Video out, RGB Scart and progressive scan technology all make for good image presentation and the sound quality is decent for the price. Let down a little by its looks and menu interface, but otherwise very reasonable. Resources |
